Service Description

NTDSE Music Therapy provides students with disabilities the opportunity to learn through multi-sensory experiences and assist in accessing their education curriculum and attain IEP goals through the clinical and therapeutic use of music.

Music therapy sessions are typically conducted with whole group classrooms and offered to every student enrolled in an NTDSE program. Therapists use a variety of evidence-based interventions in conjunction with the classroomís educational curriculum to best meet each studentís needs. In addition, NTDSE Music Therapists consult with NTDSE teachers and district music educators to assist them in adapting music education curriculum to be more accessible for students.

Team Approach

The Music Therapist works in collaboration with the educational team to integrate a studentís individual IEP goals and behavior intervention plans into their activities and lessons.

The Music Therapist embraces the use of technology to enhance the curriculum and IEP goal instruction.
