School Health Services

School Health Services Overview

School health services are governed by the Illinois School Code, the Illinois Administrative Code, and the board policies of the school districts and special education cooperatives.

If a child requires a specific health protocol due to conditions such as allergies, seizures, asthma, diabetes, or feeding issues, parents or guardians should contact the NTDSE Nurse's Office. The NTDSE nurse will develop an individual healthcare plan tailored to the child's needs. This plan will be provided to the parent or guardian for review and authorization, ensuring that all teachers and staff, including those involved in transportation, are informed and prepared to support the student.

The NTDSE nurses will also offer staff members the necessary training to implement these healthcare plans effectively. These individual healthcare plans will be reviewed annually or whenever changes are indicated by a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP)
